Bollywood's big battles

Amongst the glitterati of tinsel town are some of the worst star wars. Take a look as we blow the cover on some.
B-town's real big wars - Bollywood1

Sonam vs Aishwarya Sonam was slated to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year as cosmetic giant L'Oreal's new-inducted brand ambassador. The headiness got to Sonam and she courted controversy by saying L'Oreal's other brand ambassador belonged to 'another generation'. When the other ambassador is the towering Aishwarya Rai, you know it wouldn't go down too well. L'Oreal clarified it had no plans to replace Ash with a younger face. Sonam is an India face, Ash the international one. Sonam did not walk the red carpet at Cannes and Ash had the last laugh.

Kareena vs Ameesha Another 'debut' battle—Kareena's debut film Refugee flopped while Ameesha's debut flick 'Kaho Na Pyar Hain' rocked. Of course co-star Hrithik walked away with all the accolades and rewards from KNPH, but Ameesha was a hit too. Besides, what made matters worse was the supposed fling between Hrithik and Kareena. For Bebo, her boyfriend shared incredible chemistry with someone else. She gave up on Hrithik but going by Amisha's career graph, Bebo could well have waited and changed the course of Bollywood relationships as we know them today.
SRK Big B This one is about wearing the biggest titles—Badshah vs Shahenshah. SRK felt the pinch when Big B returned to Bollywood with unconventional roles and heaps of endorsements. Could he challenge SRK brand appeal? SRK decided to strike back by treading the Big B's path—right from Kaun Banega Crorepati - 3, campaigning for Nav Ratna Tel, remaking 'Don' and a statue at Madame Tussauds.
Aishwarya vs Rani Once friends, but the whole world knows that Rani's parents wanted the reel life chemistry between Rani and Abhishek to be converted to real life. But along comes Aishwarya and steals the show and Abhishek, from Rani. Ash's item number 'Kajra re' was the talking point of the Abhishek-Rani starrer, 'Bunti aur Babli'. Going further back, don't forget Ash was originally picked for the SRK-Rani starrer, 'Chalte Chalte'. But then boyfriend Salman's temper tantrums led Ash to be replaced by best friend Rani
Abhishek vs Hrithik They started their careers at almost the same time. But their careers took off very differently. While Hrithik was instantly feted as the next superstar, Abhishek had to struggle with his flops and near-rejection. 'Dhoom 2' propelled the rivalry to greater heights. The Hrithik-Ash jodi stole the show. Abhsishek tried take on Hrithik with a sci-fi thriller, 'Drona'. It's a film Abhishek would rather forget, though his rivalry with Hrithik continues to simmer...
Salman vs Shahid: The industry's favourite bad boy has another war brewing on his hands. Salman apparently cold-shouldered Shahid on a recent TV show where he's host. While Shahid downplayed the snub, Salman dismissed questions by saying he couldn’t really add a spark to someone who is boring. Shahid and boring—we don't think so. Salman had better watch out for him.
SRK vs Aamir This has been the most enduring of all star battles in Bollywood. It began over a decade ago in 1996. Aamir has always believed that SRK piqued his dream of securing a hat-trick for winning the Best Film Award at the Filmfare Awards. 'Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander' and 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke' had won the Best Film awards in 1993 and 1994 respectively. In 1996, SRK's DDLJ walked away with the Best Film award. SRK was awarded Best Actor. Aamir of course felt his 'tapori' act in 'Rangeela' deserved the crown
Kareena vs Bipasha The genesis of this is Bipasha's debut film, Abbas-Mustan thriller, 'Ajnabee'. Kareena played the good girl while Bips played seductress. Apparently, those on the sets were completely taken in by the simple yet very sexy Bips. Of course Bebo can never play second fiddle and there are claims that she dubbed Bips a 'kali billi'. Ouch.
Salman vs Vivek vs Ash Among the most sensational of star wars in recent years, this one still manages to leave Aishwarya visibly upset. She dated both the actors at different times and they still refer to those years in public and most times, with regret and anger. In one recent TV interview, Vivek spoke at length about the Ash years and said it cost him his career and his friends. Why wash dirty linen in public after all these years is what we would like to know.
Rakhi vs Sherlyn Enhancement is the name of the game when we are referring to B-town's hottie item numbers. While Rakhi Sawant struggled to establish herself as an item girl, Sherlyn made an easy entry shaking her body, which infuriated Rakhi to no end. Both the ladies have a dare-to-bare attitude. Strong words and seductive moves... let's wait and see who emerges the winner.

Big B's Big Boss season 3 starts with a bang

By Rohit S
Amitabh Bachchan, the Big B is back on the television with the most popular reality show, Big Boss Season 3 or Tritiya as Big B kept calling it. The first episode was aired on Sunday Night (October 4), with a lot of drama and surprises.

The show began with some of the famous dialogues of Amitabh Bachchan. It appeared as if Amitabh was the perfect host for this show as the superstar was at his best as always. Amitabh spoke in chaste hindi, quoted from his father's poetry, did a bit of flirting and even interacted with the family members of the contestants.

The contestants of Big Boss season 3 are:

Ismail Darbar (music director)
Sherlyn Chopra (formerly known as Mona Chopra, Indian model, singer and actress)
Poonam Dhillion (Ex Miss India)
Raju Srivastav (Comedian)
Vindu Dara Singh (Muscleman, son of Dara Singh)
Kamal Khan (Actor, director, writer - famous for his film Deshdrohi)
Tanaz (actor and dancer)
Bakhtiyar Irani (actor, dancer and Tanaz's husband)
Aditi Govitrikar (ex model, doctor and had participated in Khatron ke Khiladi 1)
Shamita Shetty (Shilpa Shetty's sister and a flop actress)
Claudia Ciesla (German model and featured in movie Marigold with Salman Khan)
Rohit Verma (Ostensibly efferminate designer - dressed in a flowing black gown, with thick eye lashes and lipstick)
Jaya Sawant (Mother of Item girl, drama queeen - Rakhi Sawant)

These are the 13 final contestants of Big Boss 3 who would be staying together for 84 days. The inclusion of a married couple, Rakhi Sawant's mother, a desinger in drag, the jail which would be used for punishing the housemates and a chance for the viewers to be a part and be inside the Big Boss;s house as the 14th member are few of the surprises. It is believed that Navjot Sidhu was to be the 14th conestant but after his backing out at the last moment, colors came up with having a normal individual as the 14th contestant in the show.

The contestants of Big Boss 3 already started showing what their intent was. Kamal Khan made a few comments about the way some of the women were wearing. Ismail Darbar kept walking quietly and even ignored Sherlyn when she made an entry. Vindu Dara Singh was quite enthusiatic and was seen greeting everyone, the same way Rahul Mahajan did in the season 2. Sherlyn Chopra was having a problem untying her choli and made a big deal out of it. But this time for a change, the camera doesnt follow her but she ensured that she was following the camera. Rohit Verma called himself a Hiroshima Nagasaki bomb and asked the inmates whether he should use the men's or women's bedroom. In the end he chose the men's room.

Jaya Sawant had told Amitabh that no one invited her to her daughter Rakhi's swayamvar. She said that her own had deserted her but colors and big boss had gracefully accepted her and she was very happy about it. She also admited that it was her first time she had taken part on a show or even made an appearance on the stage and it was quite obvious in the house also as she looked very much out of the place due to lack of skills and interaction with the inmates.

Most of the contestants did not miss the chance to thank Amitabh and launched a series of Amitabh's incidents and memories.

With Amitabh as the anchor, the Big Boss season 3 will surely be a treat to watch. It is very hard to predict who will be the winner og Big Boss 3 at this stage, but from the first episode it appears that Jaya Sawant would have to adjust herself well with the inmates if she wants to stay longer in Big boss's house.

Big B fails to boost Bigg Boss 3 inaugural rating

Despite Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan anchoring the third season of big-ticket reality show Bigg Boss on Colors, data from aMap, the overnight ratings agency, showed that the launch episode aired on October 4 generated an average television rating point (TRP) of just 3.This is not only less than what media agencies had anticipated, but also lower than the opening ratings of other popular reality shows, those that are running or have just concluded.

The first-episode ratings of reality shows like Raakhi Ka Swayamvar (starring Rakhi Sawant) on NDTV Imagine (TRP of 3.7), Aap Ki Kachehri anchored by ex-policewoman Kiran Bedi for the second season (TRP of 3.4) and Akshay Kumar-anchored reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi-2, also on Colors, was at 3.

Shah Rukh Khan-hosted Paanchvi Pass, the reality show on STAR Plus last year (TRP of 4) or KBC-3 (TRP of 5.8), also starring Khan in 2007, opened with which much higher viewership than Bigg Boss 3.

However, aMap says the ratings of Bigg Boss 3 are double those of Bigg Boss 2 last year when actor Shilpa Shetty was the anchor, or Bigg Boss 1, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television three years ago.

Bigg Boss 3 was watched by nearly 11 million viewers, almost double Bigg Boss 2, the viewership data shows.

Colors is quick to defend Bigg Boss 3 ratings. “The first episode was for nearly one-and-half hours compared to some other shows so the comparison with a 45-minute show is not fair.” “If aMap data shows a TRP of 3, it will be higher when the TAM numbers come out,” a senior executive of Colors said.

But advertisers have expressed strong faith in the show that has attracted top spenders such as Vodafone, Sunsilk, Garnier, Max New York Life insurance, and GM Chevrolet among others.

“It is an interesting show that has always received higher ratings.

Bigg Boss 3 will be able to sustain high viewership to meet our marketing objectives,” says a senior executive of a leading brand that has bought on-air sponsorship time on Colors.

The Bigg Boss reality show is based on the hit international show Big Brother in which 13 celebrities are locked in a house for 84 days and monitored round-the-clock by 40 cameras.

Each episode of the show industry sources aid cost the producers Rs 60-70 lakh — a figure that excludes Bachchan's payment.

Bollywood's sensual dresses

Bollywood's sensual dresses.Sarees, bikinis, hot pants and halters...actresses have worn them all. Take a look at Bollywood's most sensual dresses.

Amrita Arora: She may not have any big hits, but Amrita Arora is always the preferred one for adding that glam quotient to the movie. Even 'Kambakkhat Ishq' with Kareena in her size zero and Denise Richards in a bikini could not do without Amrita. And marriage has only done her more good!

Amrita Rao: She charmed you with her pretty looks first in 'Ishq Vishk' and then as a small town simpleton in 'Vivaah'. And then she made a smooth transition from the girl-next-door to a bikini-babe with 'Short Kut- The Con Is On'. The movie may have bombed but her chic look became the talk of the town.

areena Kapoor: This versatile actress has experimented with her looks a lot. She debuted in a deglamorised role in the critically acclaimed 'Refugee' but took everyone by surprise as Pooh in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'. And as if that was not enough, she got into her now much talked about size-zero. Wonder what's coming next Bebo?

Dia Mirza: Former beauty queen Dia carries a sari as gracefully as she does this little black dress for her look in 'Acid Factory'.

Lara Dutta: Her bikini look may not have worked in 'Andaaz'. But she was appreciated a lot for her style in 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom' and 'Partner'. And now she is grabbing all the eyeballs with her now much appreciated bikini look in 'Blue'!
