The film industry that makes news for controversies, face offs and cut throat competition has some of the most remarkable friendships quietly tucked away from the glaring media scrutiny. Here we try to look at some of those memorable friendships and find out what keeps them going.

Shah Rukh and Farah Khan are certainly Bollywood's friends forever. Farah entered the industry as a choreographer with 'Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander' but her very next film 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa' was with Shah Rukh Khan. This was the beginning of a long friendship and she turned director with 'Main Hoon Na'. which was produced by SRK's Red Chillies banner.
Karan Johar and Kajol have been best buddies though they have seen their ups and downs. But it was only Karan who could finally convince Kajol to get back to acting after a baby. Kajol will now be seen opposite SRK in 'My Name is Khan'.
Amitabh Bachchan and Amar Singh- This relationship has gone beyond the realm of friendship. Amitabh considers Amar Singh as his younger brother. In fact such deep are the ties between these two that Amar Singh gets to sit between Amitabh and Jaya at public gatherings and award functions.
Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra- We've heard a lot about jealousies, catfights and face-offs between these leading ladies of Bollywood but the latest on them is that Deepika and Priyanka have set aside their differences and are breaking new grounds in friendship. In fact lately when Priyanka threw a party, Deepika made it there despite being dog tired!
Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Arora- In Bollywood where loyalties change every hour these beauties have shown the way on how to keep the friendship going. These girls have been with each other through thick and thin. Amrita was by Kareena's side when her career was going through a slack, she was there when Bebo's relationship with Shahid was on the rocks and she is still there when her career has taken an upward swing and she has decided to confidently move ahead with Saif. Lara Dutta and Celina Jaitley- This budding friendship between the two beauty queens cannot be ignored. Aishwarya and Sanjay Leela Bhansali- Aishwarya has always been ace director Sanjay Leela's favorite actress. Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Dutt- It was rumored that old friends Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Dutt have had a show down the reason being Sunil's long-in-the-making film EMI, which had Dutt making a special appearance. Just as friends do, the duo appeared together for a photo shoot and put all rumors to rest.
Urmila Matondkar and Ram Gopal Verma- Old friendships never turn sour and Urmila and Ram Gopal Verma have proven the same. Their journey started with 'Rangeela' in 1995 when Ramuji launched Urmila in a stunning avatar bringing out the best in her.
