Divas of the silver screen Queens

Divas of the silver screen - Bollywood1

They set a trend, we follow. We want to marry like them, dress like them and live our lives on our own terms, just like them. Take a look at Bollywood's top actresses who entertain and enthrall.

Priyanka: Priyanka Chopra hit the headlines when she walked off with the Miss World crown in 2000. She took up acting in 2002 in a Tamil movie and then made her Bollywood debut in 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy' which flopped at the box office. She paired up with Akshay Kumar in 'Andaz' to savour her first success in Bollywood and has been in the news since then. She is slatted to play the lead role in 'Pyar Impossible' which will hit theaters early in 2010.
Aishwarya: Much has been said and written about this hazel-eyed beauty who has done India proud on many an occasion. She has been in the news, for her marriage with Abhishek Bachchan, for her many roles and her prowess on the catwalk. Her movies 'Provoked', 'Bride and Prejudice' and 'Mistress of Spices' brought her international acclaim. She is all set to rule Bollywood with 'Ravana' set to hit theatres in 2010.
Kareena: For Kareena, popularly known as Bebo, a career in acting came naturally. She made her debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan in 'Refugee' after opting out of Rakesh Roshan's 'Kaho Na Pyar Hai'. She did a variety of roles with equal elan. Be it the seductive 'Kaurwaki' in 'Ashoka', the uber glam 'Poo' in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' or the sex worker in 'Chameli'. Kareena added the 'Bebo' brand value to all of them. Even though she has not had a major hit to her credit, Bebo is here to stay.
Kajol: Kajol is perhaps one of those special actors who could pull off a sure success in whatever she does. She proved that she has it in her to carry a movie on her shoulders with the success of 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' and 'Fanaa' even after taking a couple of years' break. As she teams up with Shah Rukh Khan in 'My Name is Khan' will she do an encore? We are waiting!
Bipasha: Bipasha made her debut in 'Ajnabee' and took home the 'Filmfare Best Female Debut Award' for the same movie. Her oomph, her poise and the elan with which she essays out each role which has been given to her has made her one of the most favourite stars in Bollywood. She is all set to give another stellar performance in 'Lamhaa'.
Deepika: The ramp was her first love, and movies the next for Deepika Padukone. She made her debut in 'Aishwarya' a Kannada movie which was a hit. Her Bollywood debut in 'Om Shanti Om', was a dream come true for any budding actress. She was paired up against none other than Shah Rukh Khan in the movie which went on to be a hit. Deepika was a star over night and a hot favourite in town. She has not had a major hit of late, but we do hope that with 'Karthik Calling Karthik', she would be on the top again.

Kangna Ranaut Kangna started her career as a theatre actor and then decided chalk out a career in movies. She hit the jackpot right away with her critically acclaimed role in 'Gangster' followed by another one in 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Fashion'. She has a couple of movies in her kitty including 'Kites,' which will hit theatres in 2010.
Katrina: When Katrina made her acting debut in 'Boom' , the industry was fast to write her off as just another pretty face who could not speak in Hindi. But, Katrina stayed on, and hit gold with 'Sarkar' and then again with 'Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya'. She has not really had a flop since then. One of the most bankable stars in Bollywood now, she is all set to don a de-glam look and new role in 'Rajneeti'.
Konkona: Konkona Sen Sharma made her debut as a child actor in 'Indira' and then went on to play a series of roles, each of which were critically acclaimed. 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer', 'Omkara', '15 Park Avenue', 'Dosar', 'Life in a... Metro', there is perhaps no role which this Bengali beauty has not added her personal touch to. Awards and critical acclaim have poured in for this actress who takes it all with a pinch of salt. For her, acting is what she is most comfortable with.
Shilpa Shetty Shilpa Shetty made her debut in 'Bazigaar' and went on to do a number of movies, but it was post'Big Brother' show in UK that she shot to the limelight. She has been in the news ever since. And most of them were not related to movies! She hosted the Indian version of the 'Big Brother' show the 'Big Boss', she lauched her own line of poppadams and was gifted an IPL team by her beau Raj Kundra! Shilpa has got married to Raj Kundra and also has a couple of acting commitments.
